A Letter to the Voters of House District 24: Legacy

Legacy is not just what you inherit. It is what you choose to carry forward.

My family’s story in Park County is not just a business story. It is a story of work, risk, service, community, and a belief that when a place gives you opportunity, you have a responsibility to give something back.

My family has ranching roots here. My great-grandfather owned the Two Dot Ranch, and my grandmother, Ruth Taggart Blair, was the ninth of nine children. She came from a family where hard work was not a slogan. It was simply how life worked.

My grandfather, Quin Blair, came to Wyoming from Mount Carmel, Illinois during the Great Depression with nothing to his name. He found work in Laramie as a dishwasher earning room and board, then built opportunity wherever he could. He sang as an Irish tenor, formed Quin Blair’s Traveling Orchestra, played weddings, became a photographer, became a jeweler, and worked his way through pharmacy school.

He opened pharmacies in Laramie and Cody, and later served as General Manager at Pahaska Tepee when the Buffalo Bill Village came up for sale. That decision helped shape the direction of our family and our company for generations.

My father is still the CEO of Blair Hotels today. He started in the business as a boy, running ahead of cars to open cabins and show guests where they would be staying.

My mother, Judie, helped pioneer international and wholesale business not only for Cody, but for this region. Her work helped bring visitors from around the world to northwest Wyoming and played a major role in making our company what it is today.

Today, I serve as Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager for Blair Hotels. I started in room prep and have worked in every department of our company. My brothers are involved as well, and we are proud that this remains a family business.

But our success has never belonged to our family alone.

During the summer months, Blair Hotels employs roughly 250 full-time team members. They are the backbone of our success. They take pride in their work, care about our guests, represent Cody well, and are the reason our culture is so strong.

I am also proud that our company has been a good neighbor. Over the years, Blair Hotels has supported youth sports, education, veterans, women and families in crisis, cancer support, hunger relief, local events, community projects, and many other causes that strengthen the people and places we call home.

That is the legacy I believe in: not just building a business, but building a culture; supporting families; investing in the community.

I am proud of the work my family has done. I am proud of the impact Blair Hotels has had in Cody and Park County. And I am proud to carry that work forward.

Legacy is not about standing still and admiring what came before you. It is about honoring it by doing your part, serving your community, and leaving things stronger for the next generation.

That is the kind of legacy I want to help build for House District 24 and for Wyoming.
