Photography Exhibit at the Dude Ranch Foundation Museum

The Wrangle exhibition features imagery from 100 Years of Dude Ranching, a commemorative centennial book created in partnership with the Ranch Preservation Foundation. The book highlights 26 dude ranches through photography by Scott T. Baxter and writing by historian Lynn Downey. The exhibit will remain on view through September 27, 2026.

On many dude ranches in the small hours of the morning, horses are gathered from their pastures and driven to ranch headquarters during a daily ritual often called “The Wrangle.” This selection of images by Baxter captures the landscapes and people of historic dude ranches that have existed for a century or longer and still carry on such traditions. In celebration of dude ranching’s 100th year, Scott traveled over 20,000 miles across the American West to photograph the dude ranches that have been around since the beginning.
