Still Need a Father’s Day Gift? Cody Jewelers Just Made It Easy
If you’re still figuring out Father’s Day, Cody Jewelers just made the decision a little easier. The downtown shop has brought in J, a new men’s jewelry line by internationally recognized designer John Hardy, and it’s some of the best-constructed jewelry at its price point.
John Hardy’s main line is known for 18-karat gold and precious gemstones at premium price points. The JAI line takes a different approach, focusing on sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones, with select pieces incorporating 14-karat yellow gold accents. What I love most is that both lines are made in the same factory, by the same craftsmen, using the same high-end techniques. In my opinion, that makes JAI a genuinely compelling value.
Chain Bracelets
Two chain styles anchor this collection. The Byzantine chain — a style first developed by the Byzantine Empire — has an almost chain-mail quality to it, with gorgeous construction and a beautifully detailed clasp. The detail on the underside of the clasp is the kind of thing most people around you will never notice. It’s just for the wearer, and I love that philosophy. These come in multiple widths, from 3.5mm up to 6.2mm, so there’s a right size for every wrist and every build.
The box chain bracelets are equally impressive — a luxury motif that’s been popular across multiple designers, and JAI executes it well. The 5.3mm version is particularly substantial and beautifully finished.
Cuffs with a Hidden Hinge
One of the most clever design elements in the line is the cuff bracelet. Traditional cuffs have to be stretched to get on and off, which can weaken them over time. JAI engineered a hidden hinge that blends seamlessly into the design — you’d never know it was there. It’s a small thing that makes a real difference in longevity.
Dog Tags
The dog tag necklaces are some of my favorite pieces in the entire collection, and they come in a range of styles. There’s a beautifully hammered finish option, one that incorporates the box chain motif into the tag itself, and a leather wrap version that gives you a ready-made stacked look right out of the box.
The gemstone dog tags are truly special. One features faceted lapis lazuli. This is an unusual round brilliant cut you almost never see in lapis; it picks up light almost like a sapphire. Another features 2.5 carats of natural earth-mined diamonds, the most high-end piece in the line and absolutely stunning in person. A third features faceted black spinel, which has the look of black diamonds at a friendlier price point.
Rings
The ring selection runs from clean, hammered-finish bands — handsome enough for a wedding band, honestly — to a Byzantine chain-style ring and a herringbone woven design. There’s also a series of spinner rings with a fidget element built into the center band. One of those has a 14-karat yellow gold center band that spins freely. I’ll admit I’m a little partial to those.
Built for Wyoming Life
With Father’s Day coming up, this line is worth a serious look for the men in your life. These pieces are heavy, solid, and built to hold up to an active lifestyle. That matters out here. They’re going to take a beating and still look beautiful for years.
We have a strong selection in the shop right now. If something isn’t in your size, I can have it ordered and fitted quickly. Stop in and take a look – I’m happy to answer any questions.
