More Than a Remodel: Building a Place to Gather
It is easy to see that we have been making changes at 1820 17th Street.
Outside, there have been updates like paint and signage. Inside, the retail market space has been remodeled. And now, the lounge is getting its turn.
Some of the changes are easy to spot right away: new flooring, new furniture, and a new chalkboard wall for our 16 beers on tap. There is more to come, but the room is already starting to feel more like what we hoped it could become.
Not Just a New Look
But the real goal is not to just make the room look different, it’s about making the room feel like somewhere you want to stay awhile. For us, creating a space that feels comfortable, welcoming, and useful for more than grabbing a quick drink. We want the lounge to be a place where people can meet a friend, catch up after work, gather for an event, meet with a client, enjoy a tasting, or simply hang out somewhere they do not feel rushed.
A good lounge should feel like an invitation.
Comfort Is in the Details
That’s why the details matter: the floors, the furniture, the menu wall, the layout, the snack menu, and all the little choices in-between are not just about appearance. The thing I keep coming back to is that Cody deserves a place where people can gather without it feeling like a whole production. Not every get-together needs a reservation or a major occasion. Sometimes you just need a comfortable place to meet a friend, talk through an idea, have a casual date night, or sit down for a little while without feeling like you’re being rushed out the door.
This is a big part of how I think about Grape & Grain. Yes, we care about what goes into the glass, but we also care about what happens around it.
A Place for Cody to Gather
The lounge is still evolving, and honestly, so are we. There is more that we want to do, more to add, and lots more ideas are still taking shape. But the heart of it is already here: we are building a place for Cody to gather.
So, if you haven’t been in for a while (or ever), come check us out. The lounge is located in the rear of the building, with access from the sidewalk entrance or through the retail market. Can’t wait to show you the new beers on draft, our little snack menu, lounge layout, and new floors and furniture.
