Local Lore: Heart Mountian Japanese American Stories
June 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join us June 25, 2026, at noon for the next Local Lore featuring Dr. Aura Sunada Newlin, Executive Director of the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation.
Dr. Newlin—both a scholar and a descendant of Heart Mountain incarcerees—will present a compelling exploration of the Heart Mountain incarceration site and the experiences of Japanese Americans imprisoned there during World War II. Her talk will examine how stories from Heart Mountain continue to shape conversations about citizenship, identity, civil liberties, and remembrance across the American West.
