Cody Block Parties Continue Over Summer
Local Businesses Team Up to Put Together Community Events
This year, Cody, Wyoming continues to host lively family events throughout the summer season. For years, the City of Cody has put together Concerts in the Park and extended them by two weeks this year to start mid-June. The Chamber has organized other fun events to enjoy the weather, including for the second year in a row: a couple of block parties to transition into Concerts in the Park.
Yesterday, in collaboration with surrounding local businesses such as Sitti’s Table, Cody Eagles 818, Mtn Grl, Steph’s Kitchen, Silver Dollar Bar and the Dude Rancher’s Association, the Cody Chamber of Commerce organized a night of food, drinks and music on S 10th and 9th St between Sheridan and Beck.
Jennifer Thoma, the Executive Director of the Cody Chamber of Commerce aides in putting together Cody summer events said, “We just wanted to have an opportunity for the community to come together and have fun and enjoy the weather in downtown Cody in the summer.”
. . . It’s just an opportunity for those businesses to show off what they do a little bit to newer members of the community, and even make some special offers that they wouldn’t normally have.”
The event took place between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and allowed for local businesses to show the community different offerings that they have, including Sitti’s Table, which normally closes the kitchen at 2:00 p.m., was open for dinner. They served two specials – a lobster roll and a Crispy Crab Croquette that were a hit.
Steph’s Kitchen, one of the several contributors of the event, said that the block party was a way for the local businesses to express appreciation for the local community. Steph’s Kitchen also provided highly popular specials – spinach artichoke eggrolls and crab rangoons.
“It is a way for businesses to give back to our locals for all of the support they give us,” said Stephanie Hall, owner of Steph’s Kitchen.
he event started off strong with many local residents enjoying food and the warm weather, and the turnout continued to increase throughout the evening.
Continuing the fun, next Thursday on June 11 at 4:30 p.m., the chamber is hosting another block party on N 15th St between Sheridan Ave and the alley before Rumsey Ave. As per yesterday’s block party, there is a special open container permit, only this time the main businesses involved are Libations, Fat Racks and Pat’s Brew House. There will be local acoustic live music, tables and chairs.
