Amadeus Square for the Arts Holds its Grand Opening
After 28 years of dreaming of reaching this day, Patricia Wormington has finally made it real. The grand opening included tours of the remodeled building, a ribbon-cutting by the Chamber of Commerce, refreshments, and performances by some of Wormington’s students with Alpha Bell Music Service.
Patricia lives by the motto that “A vision remains a dream until you take concrete steps to live it out daily.”
About World Citizen, Patricia Wormington
Born in Indonesia, she received her bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked for a time on the stock exchange in Equity Asset Management. This background has enabled her to seize opportunities to bring this dream to life consistently. Her passion for music and its healing power drew her away from the financial world when she fell in love with music therapy, making it her second career.
Applying for a British Scholarship to study music therapy for her Master’s Degree in Cambridge, UK, she began the path that led her to open Amadeus Square. After receiving her Master’s, she became head of the Music Therapy Department at Warwickshire County Music Service and worked in that role for 9 years. She also spent a year in India teaching the Postgraduate Music Therapy Program in New Delhi.
Meeting her husband from Powell and visiting the Cody area numerous times, she moved here permanently in 2012. The next year, she started two music businesses: Alpha Bell Music Service, where she teaches piano, guitar, vocal, and ukulele. She also runs Heartland Music Therapy Services, through which she provides music therapy services.
Amadeus Square
For 28 years, her vision has been to create a venue where the community can gather. The space in Amadeus Square includes a performance area; the old kitchen now provides space for crafts, painting, and other creative work; a space for group classes with a corner featuring a “petting zoo” of instruments; and two private classrooms.
The space is available for community use, from classes to groups gathering for any creative purpose. It also hosts special pop-up events such as ukulele/djembe-themed birthday parties, drum circles, music-themed corporate team-building sessions led by Patricia, private graduation celebrations, family reunions and anniversaries with live music she can provide, club meetings, small community events, and more.
More importantly, she wants to hear from community members interested in leading group instruction here, especially in wind and string instruments and creative arts. Amadeus Square for the Arts is truly dedicated to being a special place that fosters community engagement in music education, music therapy & creative arts.
Patricia finds strength in Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “Be the change that you want to see in the world,” and transforms them into a call for personal responsibility and active creation of this new endeavor.
