A Community Canvas: The 61st Annual Art Show and Sale
The 61st Annual Community Art Show and Sale is rapidly approaching, and everyone is invited to participate. Artists, whether amateur, youth, or professional, are welcome to enter their artwork in the show. If you’re more of an appreciator, you are invited to come celebrate these artists at the opening reception.
There are multiple categories across several mediums for both amateur and professional artists alike. From oil painting to fiber art, sculpture, or photography, this is the time to dip your toe in the gallery waters and share your talents with the community.
Artists may enter up to four entries, though only two can be photography and only one can be fiber art. Cash awards are given, including Best of Show, and several Sponsor awards, including George VanBuren’s Spirit of Cody award.
Youth entries are divided into two age groups: 0-12 and 13-18. Kids can enter two pieces of artwork in either the 2D or 3D categories. Last year, we had twenty youth entries. It is a great time to see the creativity burgeoning in our community’s youth.
This year’s judge is Cody High School’s art teacher, Brandon Undeberg. We are honored to have him share his expertise and critical eye with the participants in this year’s show.
The deadline to enter is Wednesday, May 13, and the show opens with a lively reception and award ceremony on Wednesday, May 20, from 5-7pm. The general public is invited to attend, support their friends and neighbors, and vote for the People’s Choice award winner.
Northfork Highway will share their musical talents in the courtyard, while folks enjoy some small bites and refreshments. Please plan to come support our local artists.
Entry forms can be found on the homepage at CodyArts.org. Artwork can be delivered to 836 Sheridan Avenue, downtown Cody, next to the Visitor’s Center.
