29th Annual Buffalo Feast
The Native Ways student club at Northwest College will be hosting the 29th Annual Buffalo Feast on Thursday, November 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center. The feast includes braised bison short ribs, Three Sisters soup, seasonal roasted vegetables, roasted beet salad with goat cheese mousse, and berry soup.
This year’s featured speaker is Mariah Gladstone, Piikuni (Blackfeet) and Tsalagi (Cherokee), who grew up in northwest Montana. A graduate of Columbia University where she earned her degree in Environmental Engineering, Gladstone returned to Montana to begin her work with food advocacy. Her passion is revitalizing knowledge of traditional food systems and increasing access to healthy, culturally relevant foods. In 2016 she launched Indigikitchen, a web-based cooking show designed to teach viewers to prepare modern, healthy meals using traditional indigenous ingredients.
Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for children 12 and under, and $10 for NWC students. Those who wish to attend the event are encouraged to reserve tickets no later than November 13. Tickets may also be purchased by sending a check or cash to the Northwest College Foundation at 231 W. 6th St. Powell, WY 82435, or by stopping by the Science and Math Building, Room 217.
