What Happened to the 7:00 am Flight?
This question came to Cody Journal after last week’s article about the airport. So, we looked into why Cody lost the 7:00 am flight out, and here’s what we found out.
The current morning flight departs at 8:40 am, which makes it challenging to make connections in Denver. That hour-and-a-half push back in departure time makes for a very long day of travel. The airport is very aware of the problem this change has caused travelers.
The later morning departure is due to a lack of gate availability in Denver. Even though this factor is out of the control of Yellowstone Regional Airport, Aaron Buck, the Airport Director has been working with United to find a solution.
A recent decision by United will see the 5:15 am departure return starting May 24 (Saturdays only) and will also be the morning departure time for the daily 2025 summer schedule starting June 26 going through September 20. June 26 is also the return of the four daily flights to Denver. The drawback here is that the very early flight makes for a possible 3:00 am wake-up call for travelers, but that should help with connections in Denver.
