The Story Behind the Click: Two Turtle Doves

Dec 27, 2024

As a photographer, writer, and graphic designer, I appreciate good stock photography. Yet, with many projects I’ve worked on in the past, I’ve needed to create images myself to illustrate or enhance the project at hand.

When I picked up my love of photography again about 20 years ago, I spent time learning what I liked and didn’t like to shoot. I found myself drawn to fine art photography and stock photography, with studio photography coming in a close third. Over the years, I’ve built quite a collection of these random images. I am assembling some in my stock photography gallery.

The image “Two Turtle Doves” used in the current Cody Journal flyer is an older image taken in 2006 when first experimenting with stock photography. While watching the sky lighten one morning in December, I noticed how the blue hour sky made for an interesting backdrop to the tree through the sliding glass door. Having the tripod and camera at hand, I took 10 minutes to take many different shots, with this being my favorite of the batch.

I have a vast collection of Yellowstone photos, with an emphasis on individual thermal features and numerous local images. If you need to license regional stock photos, feel free to contact me, and I’ll see what I might have available that could fit your needs.
