The Story Behind “Fairy Lights and Fog”
A couple of photographer friends and I weren’t actually looking for Grizzly Bears on that particular Fall morning. We were out looking for Otters at the river, when one of my friends spotted her. It turned out that this grizzly bear, was none other than the Famous daughter of GB 399, GB 610. She was on the opposite side of the river, and we had high hopes that she would swim across.
The sun was coming up and adding little pin points of glistening light to the fog covered river, looking light little fairy lights. She gracefully left the river like a Goddess, draining water off of her beautiful grizzled coat as she walked up the hill. We eagerly awaited her “shaking off” the river water like a dog, as we watched her progress. Poised and ready for the action, we were disappointed to see her partly disappear behind a small evergreen and do it there where we couldn’t get the shot. There were only four of us there watching her at the time, and will be a rare moment in time I will always cherish.

I started out my photography journey with rodeo photography. I shot all kinds of rodeos, from Jr. Rodeos to Extreme Bulls events. From the time I was a little girl however, I watched every Wild Animal show I could find on TV, and I was obsessed with horses. I guess you could say nothing has changed. I moved to this photographers paradise that is Wyoming in 2010, and fell in love. It feels like I live in a zoo, with the variety of wildlife all around me. My favorite things to photograph are Bears, Moose, Bison and Elk just to name a few, and I also love to photograph the beauty of Landscapes.
