On the Move: WY-OH Equipment Builds Legacy of Trust

Oct 3, 2025

When Billy Burns moved his family to Wyoming in 2022, he brought more than just 15 years of diesel and heavy equipment expertise—he brought a commitment to doing things right that’s becoming his calling card across Northwest Wyoming.

What started as Wyld West Repair has evolved into WY-OH Equipment, and the rebrand tells a story bigger than just a name change. It represents growth, expanded services, and Billy’s vision of building something that lasts in the community he now calls home.

“WY-OH Equipment connects Wyoming and Ohio as service locations,” Billy explains. “But it also combines the values and traditions of Wyoming with my experience and knowledge I’ve gained in Ohio.”

Billy isn’t your typical mobile repair service. With his background as a diesel technician, field technician, and shop manager for industry leaders and municipalities, he’s seen equipment failures from every angle. That experience taught him what really matters when critical equipment goes down. It has developed him into someone who shows up when promised, fixes it right the first time, and stands behind the work.

“Your reputation is everything,” Billy says. “When equipment breaks during harvest, or a business loses backup power, they can’t afford to wait or wonder if the repair will be done right. They need someone they can count on.”

This growth and rebrand haven’t changed Billy’s approach. He still answers his own phone, still shows up personally for jobs, and still won’t recommend work that isn’t necessary. It’s that straightforward honesty that keeps clients coming back.

“Super happy with Mr. Burns’ professionalism and knowledge,” says Trista, a longtime customer. “He did a minor repair for me, and will be back soon for another job.”

Billy’s technical expertise spans diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and everything in between. But he’s quick to point out that the right tools and knowledge only matter if you’re willing to do the work correctly.

“It’s not worth speeding through a job just to get it done,” he says. “It saves me time and money getting the job done right the first time. That’s how I was raised, and that’s how I run this business… and I’ll own up to it and make it right if I mess up.”

The expansion from Wyld West Repair to WY-OH Equipment reflects his growing client base and service offerings. While Wyoming remains his primary focus (serving Cody, Meeteetse, and surrounding areas), he has also begun offering scheduled services in central Ohio, focusing on generator and fleet maintenance.

“Ohio is where I grew up, and I still love it there. But Wyoming is home now,” he explains. “We love it here. We love the people, the community, and the lifestyle. Building this business is about building a legacy for my boys. I want it to be something that continues the western values and work ethic that serves this place and wherever else we expand to for the long haul.”

That long-term thinking shows in everything from how Billy maintains client relationships to how he approaches each repair. He’s not looking for quick fixes or short-term gains—he’s building a reputation that will outlast any single job.

For Billy, the business is about more than just fixing equipment. It’s about being part of the community. Whether he’s helping a stranded traveler on the side of the road or teaching his sons valuable skills while working on a job, Billy sees his work as service in the broadest sense.

As Northwest Wyoming continues to grow, reliable service providers who combine technical expertise with genuine integrity become increasingly valuable. Billy and WY-OH Equipment are filling that need, one honest repair at a time.

“I’m not trying to be the biggest operation out there,” Billy reflects. “I’m trying to be the one people trust when it really matters. That’s the legacy I want to build here.”

For Billy, success isn’t measured in quick growth or financial gain—it’s measured in satisfied customers, equipment that keeps running, and a reputation built on doing exactly what you said you’d do.
