New Community Venue on the Horizon

Jan 24, 2025

After sitting empty for years, the round building on Mountain View Drive is getting much-needed attention. Now owned by Patricia Wormington (of Alpha Bell Music Service and Heartland Music Therapy Services), she is working to revive it into a space for the community to gather.

History of the Building

Originally built in 1964 by Don and Lucille Marquess, the round shape inspired the name of the first restaurant in this location, “The Carousel” Pancake House. Don and Lucille had previously owned Goff Creek Lodge and were also running the Green Gables Inn (Now China Town).

The Pancake House only operated for five months before the business and building were sold and turned into the Four Winds Supper Club, which featured cocktails, dining, and dancing. In 1967, Leonard “Andy” Anderson and H.R. “Dick” Deel continued to run The Four Winds until an arson fire gutted the interior.

From 1971 to around 1985, this building was well known, and is still often referred to as “The King’s Castle.” Louie “Jr.” and Diane Kousoulos purchased the supper club with John and Carol Bluher as silent partners. They renamed it “The King’s Castle” after Diane’s maiden name King. They wanted an elegant European dining room where people could get dressed up for a night out. With evening entertainment, Hope and Lloyd Sheets were some of their regular entertainers.

The restaurant was again revived in the fall of 1990 by Maggie Wright, who renamed it Maggie’s Supper Club. She ran the restaurant until the end of 1995 when she leased her bar area to the Mike Brown and Bart Adolph to open Absaroka Brewing Company, Cody’s first microbrewery. The restaurant was leased to Nancy Leiker, who ran it as Nancy’s Restaurant until 1996.

From 1997 to 2003, the Catsimanes owned the building and ran the Black Sheep Restaurant and Gibs Sports Pub, offering Greek cuisine. During the winters, they hosted Karaoke, The Newlywed Game, and Toilet Bowl competitions.

In 2003, the building shifted from a restaurant to an auto parts store, Bumper to Bumper Aeronaut Automotive that did business in this location until 2008.

Current Owner

The current owner of the building, Patricia Wormington, was born in Indonesia. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting and expanded to work on the stock exchange in Equity Asset Management. However, she did not find fulfillment in this career and began searching for other career options in music. Her passion for music made her fall in love with music therapy as her next career after seeing an image of a music therapist playing guitar and working with a patient at the hospital bedside.

From there, she applied for a British Scholarship to study music therapy (Master’s Degree) in Cambridge, UK and started down that path. After completing her degree, she became the Head of the Music Therapy Department at Warwickshire County Music Service for nine years. She also spent a year in India teaching the Postgraduate Music Therapy Program in New Delhi.

She met her husband from Powell and visited the Cody area multiple times before moving here permanently in 2012. In 2013, she started two music businesses, teaching music through Alpha Bell Music Service and offering music therapy services through Heartland Music Therapy Services, LLC.

Future Vision for the Building

She began looking for places to build her business and purchased the old King’s Castle building in 2021, dreaming of turning it into a community space. The building’s shape gives it superb acoustics. Being a visionary and open to wide possibilities, Patricia sees the space as a platform for arts/musical workshops and events.

Her tenacity has allowed her to upgrade the building slowly and steadily to prepare for these possibilities. The roof is the most recent upgrade. She hopes the space will be nearly ready for the community to use sometime this year.
