Giving Back in a Big Way: Celebrities for a Cause 2025

Mar 28, 2025

This June, almost 30 celebrities from sports legends to TV stars will be in Cody to help raise funds for Celebrities for a Cause. There will be many opportunities to meet the celebrities through fun events all week long. Events include a rodeo night, a golf tournament, a banquet dinner, and a meet-and-greet/concert in City Park. This year’s event is shaping up to be the best one yet.

This event raises funds each year for local causes. Patients at the Cancer Treatment Center and two scholarships will be the recipients of the fundraising events this year.

The Giving Heart of Cody Inspired Celebrities for a Cause

When asked what inspired Cody local Ryan Brown to create such an involved event, he said that at one point, his family was on the receiving end of Cody’s generosity. 15 years ago, his dad passed away from liver cancer, leaving the family with overwhelming bills. A local event raised $35,000 for his family to help cover those bills. This was simply neighbors helping neighbors, and having fun while doing so. This is a chance for him to pay that generosity back – and forward.

While hosting the KODI radio show, Sports Nuts of the Round Table, a sports talk radio show, he kept thinking about how he was able to connect with so many top athletes. Bringing them together for an event would allow him to give back to the community.

Over the past four years, he’s been able to give $120,000 back to the community. The first year, they raised funds for the Cancer Treatment Center to purchase much-needed equipment. From there, they raised funds for mental health, Special Olympics of Park County, and Military Mobility and Crisis Intervention Services.

This Year’s Recipients

There will be three recipients of the funds raised this year:

  • Greg Senitte Scholarship Fund – This fund honors Greg Senitte, a Cody High School graduate who became a principal at a Billings school. He passed away two years ago from brain cancer. The scholarship is awarded yearly to any Cody High School graduate who plans to pursue teaching as a career. $5000 will be donated to this fund.
  • Brad Hinze Memorial Athletic Scholarship—This fund honors Brad Hinze, who lost his life last year in a tragic car accident. This Northwest College Scholarship is awarded to college athletes. $1000 will be donated to this fund, with another state fund matching it.
  • Patients at the Cancer Treatment Center – Funds raised beyond the amount for the scholarships will be donated to a fund at the Center to help cover out-of-pocket expenses patients encounter. These can include co-pays, hotel stays, travel expenses and more.
