Four City Boards Seek Applicants
The City of Cody governs some services through boards. Right now there are four city boards seeking applicants. This is an opportunity to get more involved with how our city operates through these volunteer positions. If you are interested, fill out the Board and Commissions Citizen Interest Form or stop by the city offices to pick one up. They must be filled out and returned by October 25.
Contractors Board (licensed plumber) – 3-year term

- The purpose of the Board is to: review and approve contractors for licensing; serve as an appeals board for the licensed contractors; and recommend policies and procedures associated with building and code compliance.
- Meetings: 12:00 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month at City Hall.
Planning and Zoning Board – 3-year term

- The P&Z Board reviews all commercial and industrial development projects within Cody, as well as variances, special exemptions, downtown architectural changes, and downtown signage. They also make recommendations to the City Council on development regulations, rezones, and subdivisions.
- Meetings: 12:00 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Cody City Council Chambers. This meeting is also broadcasted and recorded.
Tree Board – 2-year term

- The Tree Board is comprised of up to nine members who are residents or conduct business in Cody. It is the responsibility of the Tree Board to study, investigate, counsel, and develop written standards, rules, and regulations for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal, and disposition of trees and shrubs in public ways, streets, and alleys. Such standards are presented to the Governing Body and, upon their acceptance and approval, constitute the official City Tree Rules and Regulations.
When requested by the Governing Body, the Tree Board shall consider, investigate, report, and recommend any special matter or question within the scope of its responsibilities. In addition, the Board coordinates local events and projects, including Arbor Day.
- Meetings: As needed.

Yellowstone Regional Airport Board – 3-year term

- Yellowstone Regional Airport is owned by the City of Cody and operated by the Yellowstone Regional Airport Joint Powers Board. The City of Cody appoints four member to the Board while Park County Commissioners appoint the other three. Established in 1981, the function of the Joint Powers Board is to plan for the future, and provide the means to operate and safely maintain an aviation facility adequate to the needs of the flying public.
- Meetings: 8:00 am on the second Wednesday of the month at the Airport Board Meeting Room.

Janet has a rich history in Cody with her grandparents moving here in the late 1930s. Her grandfather started Wyoming Well Service. Janet is a writer, photographer, graphic designer and webmaster. Cody Journal and Cody Calendar blends her skills and talents with her love of the area.
