Joining us for a special tasting experience, is Chad Brown and Mitch Braaten of Pine Bluffs Distilling. They’re a “farm to flask” Wyoming distillery committed to sourcing 100% local ingredients and supporting 100% local jobs.
On January 11, they’ll have their sherry cask whiskey available for an exclusive Chamberlin Inn tasting experience 4:30pm-6pm, followed by live music from Jimmy Rush 6pm-8pm.
At the event, you’ll hear the full story of this special sherry cask whiskey, from its birth until now, from Chris Brown. Here’s a brief insider perspective in advance of the event, shared by Chris himself:
“The sherry cask that we finished this whiskey in is a Pedro Ximinez cask from Spain. This type of sherry is more of a dessert sherry compared to a cooking sherry. The cooperage that we buy our new barrels from, Kelvin Cooperage, in Louisville KY is also a very large used barrel broker. So when they said they could get a container of Pedro Ximinez sherry barrels, I figured we should try one and I had never had a Rye Whiskey aged in a Pedro Ximinez barrel. And I’d have to go look at the barrel again, but I believe the oak used to make the barrel is American Oak, which is just a cool thing really.”
