“Top of the World: Snowy Owls on Edge of Survival” Presentation
Drawing on more than 35 years of field research in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, Holt will share findings from the most extensive long-term study of Snowy Owls in the United States. The presentation will explore Snowy Owl nesting behavior, their reliance on lemmings, and observed population declines in both species. It will also address changing conditions in the Arctic and their impact on predator-prey dynamics.
