About: Dave Leo, owner/operator of Cody-based, Hiking Buddy, leads your hiking adventure. Our journey starts with a long, leisurely ramble through rolling sage prairie while admiring sandstone hills on a well-maintained, but rugged trail. Along the way, hikers may encounter wildlife such as elk, bighorn sheep, rattlesnakes and bears as well as an array of flora. Then, we cross a babbling brook, climb dozens of switchbacks around volcanic rock formations to a scenic saddle. We stop here to explore a vast field of geode rocks. After trekking up a steep face, we hunt for morel mushroom habitat and discuss foraging. Finally, we stroll through a mossy forest to the modest rocky summit. Soak up the panoramic valley and mountain views before returning the same way.
