Cody Camera Club Meeting
“When I volunteered to do a program on hummingbird photography, Meg reminded me I had done one on photographing hummingbirds before, but I thought if anyone is like me you won’t remember any of it anyway. Besides, I’ve learned a thing or two since then.
For most of the 20+ years I have been photographing hummingbirds I have been unhappy, at some level, with the results. In the last year or so I had the surprising realization that I was getting images that I really didn’t have much to complain about. I think that was the result of a combination of factors: my hardware, my software, my understanding of hummingbird behavior, and the judicious use of a shower curtain. I’ll try to touch on all of these things, as well as the philosophical issue of how sharp you want the tips of a hummer’s wing to be. (A hummer beats its wings somewhere between 12 and 80 times a second.)”
