Canceled-Annual Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby

If you don’t know, this is a very hard hit for our community. The Ice Fishing Derby is Discover Meeteete’s largest fundraiser of the year, and it drives essential traffic to our local, small businesses. It allows us to sustain a healthy community through the tough winter months, and positions our non-profit organization to keep doing what we do. The decision to cancel involves many folks, & is not made lightly.

If you have rooms booked, plans to be in the area anyhow, or just want to escape cabin fever, we invite you to grab your loved ones and visit during Valentine’s Day weekend. The Elkhorn Bar & Grill, the Meeteetse Chocolatier, the Cowboy Bar & Cafe, and the Meeteetse Meat Company will all be open and/or hosting Valentine’s specials. If you can, keep your reservations, & come check out the reservoirs on your own. Depending on the weather, bank fishing and certain spots for ice fishing are still possible.

Teams: Every registered team will be refunded, and will receive a confirmation email. You do not need to do anything, but you’re welcome to reach out with questions.

Youth: Since youth entries are free, there is nothing needed by parents who registered their children.

Sponsors: Each sponsor will be contacted. Please be on the lookout in your emails, and bear with us as we try to reach everyone. There is a long list!

Discover Meeteetse staff are currently looking into the option of hosting an open water derby in the spring. Stay tuned to see if this develops.
