Cassie’s Comeback Continues with More Progress
The town is curious about the progress at Cassie’s Steakhouse and Saloon, Cody’s historic bar and restaurant. The new owners, Jon Bjornestad, Seth Cozzens, Mike Jones, and Brian and Jen Walker, continue to work to restore the beloved restaurant.
Construction Work
Since deciding to take on the business, the owners have put a lot of work into renovations. The kitchen has been gutted to modernize it, and the electrical components have been updated. This includes a refresh of the porch lighting.
The main entrance to the Steakhouse will be moved to the double doors in the center of the building. The Saloon will still be on the west side of the building and is currently open as a liquor store and saloon from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Menu Planning
In addition, they have been working to bring back its history. The previous owner, Mel Singer, has been consulted on numerous occasions, and the new owners will be bringing back some of her favorite dishes as specials. You’ll see the prime rib, carrot cake, and more.
“We’re aiming for a steak and whiskey vibe while honoring the past,” said Brian Walker. They want it to be family-friendly during the dinner hour, but still retain the cowboy bar atmosphere later on in the evening, as it has been for years.
In addition, they have hired Tony Shenk as the general manager. The town is already familiar with Tony as the owner of the popular The Pig and The Hog Food Truck. He brings his extensive restaurant background to this project.

Preserving the History
The new owners are looking for donations of historical items originally from Cassie’s to help restore the feel it had in prior years. Restoration work continues there as they work to bring anything back to life that they can.
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West has donated prints for them to decorate with, and the Park County Archives is helping them find historic items.
They may look at moving the stage back to its original location down the road. The feedback they’ve received has been tremendous, and they appreciate information from Mel and members of West the Band. All the details help them with their decisions.
Gearing Up for the Summer
The New Year’s Eve party was a wonderful first test, and the owners appreciated the feedback and enthusiasm from the community. Valentine’s Day Boot Scoot also gave them a chance to work out logistics.
With the progress on the kitchen renovation, they currently plan to test the waters with a few private parties in March and April and then open for business on May 1 – the same day Yellowstone will open this year.
Feel free to share your memories in the comments on Facebook or directly with the owners. If you have any items or photos you can share, get in touch. Working together as a community, we can bring Cassie’s back.
