Buffalo Bill in a Bottle: Wyoming Whiskey Honors a Legend with Exclusive 2025 Release
Wyoming Whiskey was in Cody recently to work with the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and the Irma Hotel to create content for their new Wyoming Only Release, which is coming in June.
Wyoming Whiskey began with a dream of the Mead family, a ranching family in the area since 1890. The doors opened to the realization of the dream in Kirby, Wyoming, on July 4, 2009, with co-founder David DeFazio. Offering small batch bourbon whiskey, it is an authentic Wyoming product. Since its inception, they have used locally grown grains by Brent & Sherri Rageth in Byron, Wyoming.
Wyoming Only Releases
With the total eclipse in Wyoming in 2017, a new idea hatched to create a yearly special release dedicated to a Wyoming person, place, or thing. These releases would only be available in Wyoming. The initial release was Eclipse. Since then, they have released one each year. The list includes Statesman (for Senator Hansen), Powder River, Integrity (for Senator Simpson), Hole in the Wall, Thunder Basin, Queen of the Tetons (for Grizzly Bear 399), and more.
This June, they will release a new hand-crafted small batch, Buffalo Bill, for the man who truly put Wyoming on the map. This 97 proof whisky has been aged for six years. Due to the extreme temperatures found in Kirby, the different locations in the warehouse create vastly different whiskeys. The bottom barrels are more mellow, the middle ones are richer, and the top ones are spicier. Buffalo Bill will come from the heart of the warehouse, which gives it greater depth and length with more complexity.
Collaboration
Wyoming Whiskey has collaborated with many in Cody for decades. With the Buffalo Bill release, traveling to Cody for videos, photos, and other content only made sense. Working with the true Western Hospitality of the Buffalo Bill Museum at the Center of the West, and the Irma Hotel, they spent a whole day filming. David DeFazio, co-founder and National Brand Ambassador, said the welcome from both was fantastic, with everyone going above and beyond to ensure they had all they needed to capture the shot.
Coming Soon
The 2025 Wyoming Only Release, Buffalo Bill, will go on sale on Monday, June 9, and will be on the shelves locally on June 10th or 11th. Libations has confirmed they will have it on the shelves by Wednesday, June 11th and other local liquor stores will also likely carry it.
