Bidding Ends Saturday for the Festival of Trees
You have less than a day to place your bids for the Festival of Trees Auction.
This is the second year of this annual holiday event. Many events have happened at the airport all week as part of the Festival of Trees, from the Santa fly-in to the fashion show and sit-down dinners. But the trees and wreaths up for auction tie all the events together.
This year, there are 24 trees and 22 wreaths to bid on. They will benefit 23 different non-profits (listed below). The trees are mostly hardwired with lights and ornaments hot-glued in place, making them easier to transport.
The Festival of Trees Auction is a way for the community to celebrate holiday giving each year by either donating a tree for their favorite non-profit or bidding directly on items.
The auction online has a “soft close” at 3:00 on Saturday. That means instead of the auction ending at a specific time, it works more like an actual live auction. Tree #1 will be up first, starting at 3:00. Every time a bid is placed, 30 seconds is added to the clock, and bidding on that tree continues until no more bids come in. So, if you are counter-bidding, know you have 30 seconds to decide. Then Tree #2 comes up, and they work through the catalog. Bidding may continue for a couple of hours longer, and you’ll need to keep track of the items you want to bid on. This soft close allows all bidders a chance and isn’t cut off by a specific time.
So, if you haven’t already seen the gorgeous trees in person at the airport, visit Musser Brothers Auction to see the photos.
