B&B vs Air B&B
It is VACATION time! Where shall we go? What shall we do? Where will we stay? We have so many fun decisions to make for our recreation. Traveling today is changing. We drive, we fly, we cruise, and we staycation at home. Now that you have decided to travel, do you book a hotel, a vacation house, tent camp, or wing it? If you want to take advantage of the age-old bed and breakfast way, book a B&B!
What is a B&B?
A traditional Bed and Breakfast is sometimes harder to find than you think. In this age of vacation home rentals, the term B&B has been compromised. ‘Air B&B’ is NOT always what it seems. A true Bed and Breakfast is typically in a host’s personal home, where you get a bed, a bathroom, and a hot breakfast in the morning.
Along with valuable information on where to go, what to see, and when to see it, there is sometimes more important information on where ‘not’ to go. B&B Hosts are usually locals who have seen it, done it, and can help you do it, too. Their knowledge of the general area can be the difference between a great vacation and an “I wish I had known that when we were there” one.
In-Person, Local Help
Our society has become so online that we have lost touch with people. People are our planet’s most wonderful resource. Collectively, we have so much to offer one another in experience, knowledge, talents, and emotional support. B&B Hosts are a great resource on a vacation. They can help you maneuver the best roads to travel, which restaurants can offer special accommodations, what entertainment is going on in the area, the best time to see wildlife, and where, or if an event is child and pet-friendly. More importantly, if your hosts do not know, they know how to find out.
What is an Air B&B?
The term ‘Air B&B’ can often mean a vacation rental. Adding the word “air” means no hosts, no food, no advice, no recommendations. It also can mean more cleaning work as many vacation rentals have strict requirements on how much cleaning work you must do. They may ask you to get laundry started, clean the kitchen, and put everything away even if you paid a cleaning deposit.
In Conclusion
Know before you go. Real Bed and Breakfasts are still out there. We have a following who still know how to find us. We have an online presence, too; we answer our phones, know how to email, and can help make your vacation the best it can be. Call and talk to the Host; there are no silly questions. We do family reunions, vacations, special events, and more. Plan to stay more than one night as B&Bs tend to be located in areas with lots to see and do.
