Bargain Box to get a Facelift

Jan 24, 2025

Call to all Wyoming artists!

The Cody Public Arts Committee seeks designs to bring more public art to Cody. They have selected the Bargain Box as the next project and are looking for an inclusive story of the Cody region through a bold and colorful mural design. The deadline to apply is February 7, 2025. Contact Tina Gail for the full RFQ (Request for Qualifications) or with any questions at [email protected] or (307) 527-3485.

The “canvas” for this 787.5-square-foot mural will be the north wall of the Bargain Box Furniture store (1537 Beck Avenue, Cody, WY 82414) in downtown Cody. The project’s funding comes from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, donations, and from the City of Cody.

The Cody Public Arts Committee operates under the direction of the City and consists of ten members who serve for three-year terms. Their last highly successful and well-received project was the mural painted by artist Dan Toro on the side of By Western Hands. This committee also spearheaded the beloved piece of public artwork: the statue of Buffalo Bill sitting on a bench in front of the Irma Hotel.
