Cody Songwriter Kalyn Beasley Hosting Intimate Songwriter Show March 21

Mar 13, 2026

Local musician Kalyn Beasley is bringing a new kind of live music experience to Cody later this month, blending storytelling and original songwriting in an intimate setting designed for music lovers who prefer a quieter evening.

Beasley will host a songwriter-style performance titled “Guitars, Geysers and Grizzlies” on Saturday, March 21. The event will feature original songs, the stories behind them, and a relaxed atmosphere intended to highlight the craft of songwriting.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show beginning at 7 p.m. The performance is expected to run approximately two hours.

A Night of Songs and Stories

The show will feature Beasley performing original music and sharing the inspiration and stories behind his songs throughout the evening. The format is similar to popular songwriter showcases such as the Yellowstone Songwriter Festival, which inspired Beasley to create his own version of the concept in Cody.

The evening will focus on storytelling through music, with elements of improvisation and discussion about the songwriting process.

“This is a songwriter show,” Beasley said. “It’s about the songs and the stories behind them.”

Opening the night will be Parker Brown, a Billings-based musician who performs solo acoustic. Brown also plays guitar in Beasley’s band.

A Different Kind of Live Music Experience

Unlike traditional bar shows, Beasley hopes to create a comfortable and intimate environment where audiences can sit back and listen closely to the music.

The venue will offer a full concession stand with adult beverages as well as snacks such as popcorn and candy.

Beasley said the event is designed to appeal to people who enjoy live music but prefer an earlier and quieter night out.

“These types of songwriter events have been growing in popularity,” he said. “We’re trying to provide a different form of entertainment.”

Building a New Local Music Series

Beasley hopes the March 21 performance will be the start of an ongoing series. His long term goal is to host similar shows more frequently while bringing additional songwriters to the area.

He said the project is an effort to help reinvigorate the songwriter festival concept locally, starting with small steps and building momentum over time.

“There’s a huge desire out here for people to listen to original music,” Beasley said.

He added that bringing higher caliber music to smaller communities can require more resources, but audiences benefit from the investment. “You get what you pay for,” he said.

A Regional Touring Musician

Beasley regularly performs throughout Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. Over the years he has played countless bar venues across the region, which he credits with helping him develop stage presence and live performance experience.

In Cody, however, he performs less frequently. Typically he plays one or two full band shows per year locally, along with a couple of acoustic performances.

His music is also available on streaming platforms including Spotify.

Tickets and Event Information

Tickets for the March 21 show are $20 in advance and can be purchased at Legends Bookstore in Cody or online through Eventbrite.com. Tickets will also be available at the door for $30.

According to Beasley, roughly half of the available tickets have already been sold.
