Faces of Cody: Lyndon Winkler-Custom Garage Door

Jan 23, 2026

Born and raised in Greybull Wyoming Lyndon is a Wyomingite through and through. One of four children, his family farmed and raised cattle. In high school he was a bareback rider and wrestler. After graduating he decided to stay in Greybull and work for the school district for nine more years. He enjoyed spending time in the Big Horn Mountains and just enjoying the outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping.

In 1991 Lyndon took on a job in Antarctica where he spent five months working with heavy equipment, building runways, drilling holes through the ice for the NSF scientists and much more. When they weren’t working they were enjoying the scenery, penguins and more. Make sure to ask him about it sometime!

The Beginning of a Legacy

In 1992 a newly wed Lyndon took a job with Cody Overhead Door ran by Clay and Cindy Ivanoff. Lyndon and his wife Nancy moved to Cody in 1995 and started their family. Lyndon worked for Clay until 2002 when Clay sold the business (Cody Overhead Door) and Lyndon stayed with the new owners.

In 2007 Lyndon Winkler and Clay Ivanoff decided to start Custom Garage Door, another garage door business with the old school values and service to help serve the Big Horn Basin. Little did Lyndon know he would be creating a legacy in the garage door business.

Now 32 years from his first day on the job Lyndon is known throughout the Big Horn Basin for his hard work and dedication to the garage door business. Custom Garage Door services and installs residential and commercial doors.

Over the years Lyndon has made it a point to be a part of the community. Making family a priority Lyndon attended all his children’s sporting events, plays, band/choir concerts, and more from elementary to college, whether in town or in another town or state. He even chaperoned the All State Marching Band trips and sponsored multiple youth sports throughout the years! You could find him timing at swim meets, filling in as Santa at the Santa House, or just helping wherever a hand was needed. He is also a member of the Lions Club for many years assisting with the Turkey Shoot and more.

Today Lyndon Winkler is still running Custom Garage Door serving the Big Horn Basins garage door needs with the help of his son in law Jordan Scheu. His three children are now grown and all live in the Cody community and as a new grandfather he still sponsors local youth, volunteers, and helps others in the community while spending time with his wife and Irish Wolfhound.
