Cori Gordon’s Hot Headed Hattery Blazes a Trail

Sep 5, 2025

She has a radiant smile and stubborn streak in spades. Cori Gordon’s cowboy felt hat business, The Hot-Headed Hattery, is rapidly picking up steam. Built out of boredom one evening in a college dorm room and taking shape into something unique. Many people in the creative community know her because of her voice and songwriting. But this time, her ingenuity and wood burning pen have produced wearable works of art.

Her trademark burned in sunflowers are the most requested items on the burned hats, but she has inscribed initials, family cattle brands, elk antlers, and plenty of other designs for both custom and regular retail customers She’s even occasionally adding song lyrics or Bible verses.

Recently however, she acquired her hat steaming tools and set up to level up her other side of the business which is repurposing old worn out felt hats into new creations. Shaping and burning are two different aspects of the business. If someone provides the hat and she does the design burning- it can be anywhere from $ 250-$450. If she provides the hat or the customer wants a higher end type of hat, those prices are customized.

She collaborates with Cody Jewelers and keeps four hats on display there at time for sale. Cori is also branching out and having hat burning decoration parties! It has been the most popular with bridal parties so far.
