Zone 4 and Fabulous: Inside Cody’s Hidden Garden Gems
Gardening in northern Wyoming is not for the faint of heart. The challenges of a short season (mid-May through late September), strong winds, low humidity, and cold winters (-30°F to -20°F – the definition of Zone 4) make having a beautiful garden daunting. But it is possible.
Kendra Morris, owner of Pollen Landscapes, has found this to be true. She has discovered lovely gardens tucked away in a variety of neighborhoods in Cody. While we are arguably on the cold edge of Zone 4, you can still have a beautiful garden. To provide inspiration, she has revived the Cody Garden Tour by partnering with Cody Arts (formerly the Cody Country Art League) and Chamberlin Inn to provide a fundraiser for a very worthy cause. This is collaboration at its best. Everyone wins.
Thanks to gracious homeowners, six unique gardens will be open to visitors on Saturday morning, July 26. This self-guided tour will take you on an inspirational morning of flower gardens, vegetable gardens, xeriscape gardens, pollinator/wildflower gardens, and even an in-ground greenhouse and cut flower garden. At select gardens, artists from the Cody Country Art League will have their own “quick draw,” creating a work of art during the morning.
The Garden Tour will wrap up with a reception the Chamberlin Inn’s lovely courtyard. The artwork created in the morning will be auctioned off in a silent auction while Jane Bell provides music. All Garden Tour and Auction proceeds will benefit the Luke Bell Affordable Counseling Program.
Get Your Tickets
You can still get your tickets for the 2025 Cody Garden Tour. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the Cody Arts or Pollen Landscapes. In addition, you can purchase tickets online.
Pollen Landscapes has already planned this event for the last weekend in July 2026. So, get inspiration this year and make plans to improve your garden and be on the tour next year — or just tattle on your neighbor with the great garden.
