Cody 59ers Rock Club Meeting
Greetings 59ers,
Just a reminder that our February Cody 59ers Rock Club meeting is coming up this Thursday, February 27th, at 6:30 PM. We’ll be meeting downstairs at Big Horn Federal Savings Bank, located at 1701 Stampede Ave.
Parking near the building is limited, but additional parking is available in the large lot just east of the building. Doors will open at 6:00 PM. The weather should be nice (for February).
We are thrilled to welcome Lynn Powers as our speaker this month! Lynn is the President of the Southwestern Montana Astronomical Society, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, and an active member of Astronomers Without Borders. In 2019, she was honored with the Las Cumbres Amateur Outreach Award by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific for her dedication to sharing astronomy with the world.
Recently, Lynn has been involved in numerous outreach programs in the Bozeman area, including the Stars Over Yellowstone weekends, where she shares the wonders of the night sky with visitors from around the globe—accompanied by her 10-inch Dobsonian telescope. At our meeting, Lynn will present on meteorites and showcase some of her fascinating samples. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from her expertise and enthusiasm for astronomy!
We will be holding a silent auction to help raise funds for the club, along with some exciting door prizes!
