SUMMARY:Kids Fishing Day and Derby
DESCRIPTION:The Kids Fishing Day in Cody is jointly sponsored by East Yellowstone Trout Unlimited (EYTU)\, The Optimists\, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD)\, and the Shoshone National Forest. Since its inception in 1989\, this event has grown to host over 300 participants ages 2-14 annually at no cost. It is held on the first Saturday in June to coincide with the WGFD statewide free fishing day.\nEach participant receives a fishing pole\, tackle\, and lunch for free. We also award prizes for the top three fish across 10 species\, alongside raffle prizes of fishing equipment\, a grand prize inflatable kayak\, and a Lifetime WGFD conservation stamp. \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

DESCRIPTION:Youth and families are invited to the annual Cody Kids Fishing Day event Saturday\, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Beck Lake Recreation Area in Cody. Kids 14 and under can register beginning at 8 a.m. at the entrance to the recreation area from 14th Street. \n“This is a great opportunity for Cody area youth and their families to spend the day enjoying the outdoors and learning about fishing\,” said Tara Hodges\, Information and Education Specialist.  “The event is free of charge and the entire family is encouraged to attend.” \nChildren and their families will have the opportunity to catch yellow perch\, cutthroat\, rainbow and brown trout.  Assistance will be available for beginner anglers. To learn more about fishing at Beck Lake Recreation Area\, check out this video. \nThe first 350 kids ages 14 and under who register will receive a free fishing pole and gift bag. Additional prizes will be awarded at the end of the event including a grand prize of a two-person inflatable kayak.
