DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the women shaping the modern West at this special Buffalo Gals Luncheon featuring acclaimed Wyoming artist\, author\, and photographer Lindsay Linton Buk. Known for creating “art with an impact\,” Buk’s work is rooted in storytelling\, active listening\, and bridging differences across communities.\nA fifth-generation Wyoming native\, Buk is the author of Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming\, launching in conjunction with this event. Her career spans portrait photography in New York City\, where she was mentored by renowned photographers Rodney Smith and Peter Hurley\, as well as work as an educator for Canon’s “Photography in the Parks” program. She holds a B.A. in History from Middlebury College and an AAS in Photographic Communications from Northwest College.\nHer acclaimed multimedia exhibit\, Women in Wyoming: Shaping the West\, has been presented at institutions including the Buffalo Bill Center of the West\, the University of Wyoming Art Museum\, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum\, earning national attention with features in outlets such as Forbes\, Cowboys & Indians\, PRX\, and Travel Channel.\nAt the luncheon\, Buk will be joined by a panel of women featured in the book\, sharing their ventures\, experiences\, and the ways they are actively shaping the West today.\nTickets:\n$25 members | $35 non-members\nBook Presale:\nReserve a copy for $50 through May 3. Hedren as he presents his new book\, Sitting Bull’s War: The Battle of Little Bighorn and the Fight for Buffalo and Freedom on the Plains. This special author talk and book signing will take place Monday\, July 6\, in the Coe Auditorium.\nA retired historian and superintendent with the National Park Service\, Hedren spent thirty-seven years working at historic sites across the West\, from Minnesota to Wyoming\, Montana\, Utah\, North Dakota\, and Nebraska. His many books have earned top honors\, including a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America\, a Western Heritage Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum\, and multiple Best Book awards from the Little Big Horn Associates.\nA lifelong student of the Great Sioux War\, Hedren continues to explore the trails\, battlefields\, back corners\, and sacred sites of that dramatic 1870s conflict.
