Happy Wednesday, Journal Tribe!
We've received more responses from candidates for our Voter Guide with more promised to come. Thanks so much for all the positive feedback. We strive to keep our election coverage as drama free as possible while also allowing all candidates a voice if they choose.
FRIDAY: The Wild West Balloon Fest begins, running through Sunday. Friday night will be the Balloon Glow at Mentock Park. While we sadly don't have the powwow here anymore, there will be an Apsáalooke Push Dance at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in the afternoon. And in the early evening, head to City Park for the The Cradle Music Festival - local musicians putting on a show to gather items for mothers in need.
SUNDAY: The last balloon launch happens early (6:30 am-ish), followed by the many brunches in the area and a Plant Swap happens over in Powell in the afternoon.

Morrison Jeep Trail Repairs Underway
Outdoor recreation takes many forms in the Cody Yellowstone area. Some prefer to hike, others to ride horseback, and still others pedal their way to scenic views and vast wild lands surrounding Cody. There are those who also love to get out in four-wheel drive, high-clearance vehicles. One of the most technically challenging roads in Wyoming is the Morrison Jeep …

Summer Sips Recommendations from Grape & Grain
The "Favorite" Question I have a lot of people come into Grape & Grain and ask what my favorite wine or whisk(e)y is, which to me is like asking me who my favorite kid is. And spoiler alert for the rest of the article, even may favorite kid is different depending on the day, and I am certainly not going …

The Story Behind Cody Jeweler's Signature Wyoming Designs
The first time I ever came to Cody, a Buffalo pendant in our store window stopped me on the sidewalk. I was not working here then. I was not living here then. I just looked at it through the glass and thought, that is a beautiful thing. Fast forward to now, and I manage the store. I still walk past …

Realtors Building a Brighter Future for Big Horn Basin Youth
The start of the school year can be an exciting time for young children. Students will meet new teachers, make memories on the playground, and reconnect with friends. For others, though, this time is nerve-wracking. In Wyoming, roughly 10% (Annie E. Casey Foundation) of children live in poverty and don't have the ability to afford new school equipment, from backpacks …

Artist Sought for Downtown Mural

From galleries to the Rendezvous Royale each September to the various public art installations, it's easy to see that Cody is an art town, as well as the rodeo capital of the world, the gateway to Yellowstone, and home to a world-class museum. And it's about to add another art installation. The Cody Public Art Committee (CPAC) is at it …

A Letter to the Voters of House District 24: Service
Service starts long before a person files for office. It starts with showing up. It starts with serving your community when there is no title on the line, no vote to win, and no guarantee of credit. It starts with listening, working through problems, raising money, making hard decisions, and taking responsibility when something needs to get done. That kind …

The Right Leadership for House District 50
The decisions we make today will determine the Wyoming our children inherit tomorrow. That is why I am running for House District 50. As the father of three young boys, I think about Wyoming's future every day. My wife and I are raising our family here because we believe Wyoming is one of the best places in America to live, …
