FROM MY DESK
Good evening. This week's articles cover a departure, an outside hire, and a geyser that appears to have made up its mind.

First, Yellowstone Regional Airport brings on a new air service consultant, and the fair question underneath it is why an airport needs one at all.

Next, Cam Sholly leaves Yellowstone in late September after eight years, a flood, a pandemic and more than a billion dollars in infrastructure work. Most of what he fixed, you will never notice, and that is the point.

And, Giant Geyser has now gone four times this season, with the intervals getting shorter. There may be a window opening this week.

Also this week: Durango Boots opened its fourth annual National Day of the Cowgirl scholarship, worth $30,000 to one first-year college student.

EVENTS EARLY NEXT WEEK:
This week Devon Jewelers will be celebrating their 2 year anniversary. Congrats!

MONDAY: Today, the Children's Resource Center is holding Developmental Screenings all day. The season is winding down to catch Dinner & Show at Cody Cattle Company. It's Yoga Night at the Chamberlin. And over at the Library, Come Read a Picture Book with Mac Barnett.

TUESDAY: As always, there's Tasting Tuesdays at Grape & Grain - always something new to try. A Light to Remember: An Evening of Remembrance & Reflection happens at Spirit Mountain Hospice House. We are so lucky to have this wonderful facility here in Cody that touches so many of us.

WEDNESDAY: Wine Wednesday happens at Grape & Grain, The Fence & Beyond is having a Curry Dinner. It's Family Movie Night at Vali Twin Cinemas in Powell, and your Wednesday music choices are Ham & Eggs at the Chamberlin, Jimmy Rush at the Irma, the Cul-de-Sac Cowboys at Cassie's and Witch Ripper with Friendship Commanders at the Colonel.

CORRECTION: In the last email newsletter, I mentioned that the Beginning Cha Cha Dance Class starts on Oct 22 - that was a typo! It starts on Thursday, October 2 at the Colonel!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Giant Geyser in Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin erupted again on Thursday, September 10, 2026, after dark. The eruption was illuminated by flashlights and caught on the live streaming webcam, much to the delight of giddy geyser gazers who had watched the area for days and waited in hopes of an eruption.
