SUMMARY:Powell’s Pop Up Play
DESCRIPTION:Alright! Who’s ready?! Thanks to Heart Mountain Free Clinic and First Stop Park County Help Center\, I’m excited to announce that there is going to be an INDOOR OPEN PLAY SPACE available on a regular basis right here in Powell. \nWe’re having our first ‘Pop-Up Play’ event at the Trinity Bible Church gym this Wednesday March 12\, from 10am- 12pm.\nThis event is aimed at providing a free\, open ended play area for caretakers to bring their kiddos ages 0-5 to let them interact and play with each other.\nThis is not childcare. \nA caretaker must sign a liability waiver and be present for the entire time that their little is playing.\nLet’s make this a fun\, open\, supportive environment for the kiddos and adults alike so that we can keep having these play days until the weather clears up… and maybe even after! \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

SUMMARY:Afternoon Book Discussion: Powell
DESCRIPTION:April’s Afternoon Book Discussion book is now available for pick up!! \nThe discussion group will be meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday\, April 8th in the Homesteader Hall Meeting Room at the Park County Fairgrounds to discuss ‘Cutting for Stone’ by Abraham Verghese \nMore about this fiction book:\nA sweeping\, emotionally riveting first novel — an enthralling family saga of Africa and America\, doctors and patients\, exile and home. Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon at a mission hospital in Addis Ababa. Orphaned by their mother’s death in childbirth and their father’s disappearance\, bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine\, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Yet it will be love\, not politics — their passion for the same woman — that will tear them apart and force Marion\, fresh out of medical school\, to flee his homeland. He makes his way to America\, finding refuge in his work as an intern at an underfunded\, overcrowded New York City hospital. When the past catches up to him — nearly destroying him — Marion must entrust his life to the two men he thought he trusted least in the world: the surgeon father who abandoned him and the brother who betrayed him. \nTo join the Afternoon Book Discussion Group\, please ask for a copy at the circulation desk or check it out on Libby! \nThe Park County Public Library\, Powell is located in Homesteader Hall at the Park County Fairgrounds (655 E. 5th St.) \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

SUMMARY:Fiction 2 Film Book Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Don’t Judge Books by their Movies!!\nJoin the Fiction 2 Film Book Discussion Group where we discuss books that have been turned into movies!! \nFor April we will be discussing ‘Big Little Lies’ by Liane Moriarty at 6 p.m. on Thursday\, April 10th in the Homesteader Hall Meeting Room at the Park County Fairgrounds! \nMore about this fiction book:\nA murder… a tragic accident… or just parents behaving badly? What’s indisputable is that someone is dead. But who did what? Big Little Lies follows three women\, each at a crossroads: Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She’s funny and biting\, passionate\, she remembers everything and forgives no one. Her ex-husband and his yogi new wife have moved into her beloved beachside community\, and their daughter is in the same kindergarten class as Madeline’s youngest (how is this possible?). And to top it all off\, Madeline’s teenage daughter seems to be choosing Madeline’s ex-husband over her. (How. Is. This. Possible?). Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare. While she may seem a bit flustered at times\, who wouldn’t be\, with those rambunctious twin boys? Now that the boys are starting school\, Celeste and her husband look set to become the king and queen of the school parent body. But royalty often comes at a price\, and Celeste is grappling with how much more she is willing to pay. New to town\, single mom Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for the nanny. Jane is sad beyond her years and harbors secret doubts about her son. But why? While Madeline and Celeste soon take Jane under their wing\, none of them realizes how the arrival of Jane and her inscrutable little boy will affect them all. \nTo join the Fiction to Film Book Discussion Group\, please ask for a copy at the Circulation Desk or check it out on Libby! \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.
