DESCRIPTION:News Release Date: May 23\, 2024\nContact: Linda Veress\, (307) 344-2015 \nThe opening of the Beartooth Highway (US-212)\, located east of the park’s Northeast Entrance between Red Lodge\, Montana\, and Cooke City\, Montana\, is delayed. \nThe highway was scheduled to open on Friday\, May 24\, but will remain closed through the weekend due to winter weather conditions\, significant snowfall and hazardous driving conditions. \nCurrently\, there is a winter storm warning in effect for the area and a forecast for heavy snowfall of 1-2 feet with winds gusting as high as 35 mph. \nTemporary travel restrictions or closures can occur at any time without notice. Have flexible travel plans and watch for quickly changing weather conditions. \nThe highway will open to the public as soon as conditions allow. DESCRIPTION:The first round of proposed amendments to the 2015 Development Standards and Regulations were released for public review on October 17\, 2024. The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on November 20\, 2024\, to consider the proposed amendments and recommended approval with conditions for the correction of minor typographical errors throughout the document and adjustment of the language relating to variances to reflect slightly less restrictions than were originally proposed.\nThe new draft\, reflecting those changes\, is now available for public review.  The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on January 27\, 2025 @ 1:15pm to consider adoption of the first-round amendments (2025 Development Standards and Regulations). DESCRIPTION:FREE Tax Preparation Services Drop-Off and Appointment Options\nThe Park County Library is excited to partner with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) to offer free tax preparation services for individuals\, families\, and persons with disabilities earning $68\,000 or less. This valuable service will be available from January 28 through April 15 at the Cody Library.\nHow It Works:\nTaxpayers can choose to schedule a one-hour in-person consultation or use VITA’s new convenient drop-off service. For the drop-off option\, taxpayers can leave their documents in a secure drop box located inside the Cody Library. Once the return is prepared\, VITA volunteers will contact the taxpayer to schedule a pickup appointment.
