Since being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 2 years old\, Cal has faced a lifetime of challenges: countless doctor’s visits\, blood sugar checks\, insulin injections\, and the constant vigilance required to manage his health. As he’s grown older\, the toll of the disease has intensified. Today\, Cal is battling stage 4 kidney disease\, rapidly approaching kidney failure. His medical team has determined that without a kidney transplant within the next year\, his chances of survival and quality of life are at serious risk.\n \nThe path to a transplant is daunting—emotionally\, physically\, and financially. While insurance provides some relief\, it doesn’t come close to covering all the expenses. That’s why we’re starting this campaign—to rally around Cal during this critical time. Your generosity will help cover:\n 1. Transplant Surgery and Medical Costs: A kidney transplant costs about $450\,000. While insurance will cover most of it\, Cal’s family will still need to pay $8\,500 to $10\,000 out of pocket for the surgery alone. This doesn’t include a lengthy hospital stay\, rehabilitation\, and other essential care.\n 2. Travel and Relocation Costs: Cal’s surgery will take place in Denver\, Colorado\, requiring him to stay in Denver for 4–6 weeks during his initial recovery. His family hopes to secure short-term housing near the hospital to ensure he receives the care and support he needs.\n 3. Post-Operative Care and Medications: Immunosuppressant medications\, crucial for the success of the transplant\, can cost anywhere from $50 to $2\,000 per month. Additionally\, Cal will require regular follow-up visits\, lab work\, and other related care for the rest of his life.\n 4. Living Expenses and Lost Income: Given the physical demands of Cal’s job\, he will be unable to work for at least 4 months while recovering. During this time\, the family will need help covering everyday expenses.\n \nCal has been fighting tirelessly to delay the need for a transplant by making extreme changes to his diet and lifestyle. But despite his best efforts\, his condition is progressing\, leaving him weaker and more fatigued with each passing day. Now\, it’s our turn to fight for him. \nYour support can make all the difference—not just for Cal\, but for his family. By donating\, you’re giving a little boy more time with his dad and a wife the chance to hold onto her husband. Every contribution\, no matter the size\, brings hope and relief to those who love him.\n \nThank you for reading Cal’s story and for any help you can offer. Together\, we can give Cal the brighter\, healthier future he deserves. \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

SUMMARY:Community Night
DESCRIPTION:Community Night is back – Thursday\, April 24th at 6 PM! \nEvery year\, we set aside an evening to celebrate the organizations that help get local kids outside—and you’re invited. \nJoin us at Sunlight Sports to meet the incredible volunteers and leaders behind the five nonprofits we’re proud to support in 2025. These groups are out there every season\, introducing young people to wilderness\, trails\, bikes\, skis\, and more. \nWhile you’re here\, we’ll be sharing a sneak peek of our summer partnership with Mountain Hardwear\, introducing a few great new brands\, and serving up delicious food from our friends at Sitti’s Table. Plus\, we’ve lined up some very cool prizes you can win just for showing up. \nAnd as always\, you can donate 10% of your purchase that night directly to one of our nonprofit partners\, just by shopping. \nThis year’s partner organizations: \nDano Youth Camps \nShoshone Backcountry Horsemen \nCody Archery Club \nPark County Youth Cycling \nPark County Nordic Ski Association \nCome for the cause\, stay for the food\, the gear\, and the people. It’s one of our favorite nights of the year\, and we’d love to see you there. \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.
