SUMMARY:Conservation Easement Training for Landowners’ Team
DESCRIPTION:Conservation Easement Training for the Landowners’ Team: A Conservation Tool To Keep Farms\, Ranches\, and Families Thriving\nPeople choose to live in the Mountain West for all aspects of rural living — open space\, wildlife\, and agricultural heritage. Safeguarding this way of life can protect the economy’s tourism and agricultural sectors. This day-long program at the Cody Holiday Inn\, sponsored by the Wyoming Realtors Land Institute and Park County Open Lands\, is designed to help new and seasoned practitioners understand issues facing property owners who want their lands to stay intact for future generations. Understanding these unique issues can help buyers\, sellers\, appraisers\, attorneys\, and tax professionals navigate conservation easements. You will be better prepared to advise your clients about this increasingly exercised private property right. Continuing education credits are available for legal professionals and realtors (seven hours). Lunch will be provided.\nRegister Now: https://www.rliland.com/wyoming/Events/Event-Info/sessionaltcd/Conservation\nSpeakers:\nAlex Few is the Director of Park County Open Lands. She earned her bachelor’s in biology at the University of Texas and a Ph.D. in neurophysiology from the University of Washington. She has been working in the government and nonprofit sectors at the intersection of wildlife conservation and working lands management for 15 years. She began her career as a bighorn sheep biologist for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife before relocating in 2016 to her husband’s family farm in Powell\, Wyoming. She entered the nonprofit sector in 2019\, working for the Western Landowners Alliance\, and joined Park County Open Lands in 2023.\nLiz Long is the Vice President of the Jackson Hole Land Trust. She earned her law degree from the University of Georgia\, where she focused on environmental and land use law and gained experience with governmental agencies and numerous nonprofits. She has worked at the land trust since 2012\, initially as Protection Manager\, and is deeply familiar with the intricacies of private land conservation.\nLucas Forcella is a business attorney based out of Billings\, MT\, advising clients on commercial transactions\, tax matters\, and as outside general counsel. Understanding that many business owners’ personal and professional lives are closely connected\, he also assists his clients with trust and estate planning. Lucas is a regular presenter on business and tax issues impacting the mountain-west region and hosts a monthly educational forum for accountants\, business professionals\, and other attorneys.\nKim Bennett is a real estate appraiser and the owner of Terra Western Associates in Big Timber\, MT. She is certified in both Wyoming and Montana and is an accredited rural appraiser by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
