SUMMARY:Talk: Large Carnivore Management in Wyoming
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the May Lunchtime Expedition\, “Large Carnivore Management in Wyoming\,” presented by Wyoming Game & Fish wildlife biologist Luke Ellsbury. \nThe in-person talk takes place in the Center’s Coe Auditorium\, with a virtual option available at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_N_0Hyj0iQGepzcRzJ5mJKg#/registration \nLarge carnivore management in Wyoming is multifaceted and always dynamic. Mountain lions\, wolves\, grizzly bears\, and black bears are monitored and managed by a team of experts working together to maintain viable populations of large carnivores in suitable habitats. The team uses a science-based adaptive approach and proactively manages to mitigate human/wildlife conflicts. \nThe Wyoming Game and Fish Department strives to include localized expertise as well as public desires and attitudes in developing objectives and making management decisions. The Large Carnivore Section provides information and education on large carnivore management and safety to the public all over the state through Bear Wise Wyoming. Through changing population dynamics of both wildlife and people\, carnivore management in Wyoming will continue to have its rewards and challenges. \nCody Calendar advertisers make this calendar possible. \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

SUMMARY:Wine\, Women and Demetia
DESCRIPTION:What: Screening of “Wine\, Women & Dementia”\nWhere: The Cody Theater\, 1171 Sheridan Avenue\nWhen: Friday\, May 3rd\, 6:00 PM\nCost: Free – Thanks to a generous grant from The Bargain Box!\nAfterparty: Discussion at The Chamberlin Inn (Buy Your Own Drinks) \nPark County Library is excited to invite you to a special screening showcasing the touching documentary film\, “Wine\, Women & Dementia\,” which offers a poignant glimpse into the realities of caregiving for loved ones with dementia. \nDirected and produced by Kitty Norton\, the film follows her personal journey as a former dementia family caregiver. Together with her best friend\, Beth Rigazio\, Norton embarks on a cross-country RV adventure to meet other caregivers who provided virtual friendship and encouragement through shared experiences. \nThe caregivers featured in the film share intimate and heartfelt stories\, offering viewers a vivid portrayal of dementia life – from diagnosis to death\, heartbreak to hilarity. Through these stories\, themes of perseverance\, familial devotion\, and the celebration of life emerge\, highlighting the invaluable support that caregivers provide to one another. \nWe are grateful for the support of The Bargain Box\, whose generous grant has made this event possible\, ensuring that it is free and open to the public. We also extend our appreciation to The Cody Theater and The Chamberlin Inn for their collaboration and assistance in hosting this screening. \nFollowing the film\, we invite you to join us for an afterparty discussion at The Chamberlin Inn. Please note that while the event itself is free\, attendees will be responsible for purchasing their own drinks at inn. \nWe encourage everyone to spread the word and join us for this meaningful event. Together\, let’s raise awareness and celebrate the caregivers who play such an essential role in our communities. \nWe look forward to seeing you there! \nCody Calendar advertisers make this calendar possible. \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

SUMMARY:Exclusive Tours & Trails: Castle Rock
DESCRIPTION:Join us on an adventure into history with our next Exclusive Tours and Trails event on May 19\, 2024! \nExclusive Tours staff is teaming up with renowned artist and Cody local Mike C. Poulsen to bring visitors into the beautiful vistas and historic trails of the American West\, including the astounding geological feature known as Castle Rock. \nRising over 6000ft\, Castle Rock stands out in the beautiful Southfork Valley and was used as a geographical marker for Native Americans and explorers alike. Mike Poulsen grew up on his family ranch in the shadow of Castle Rock\, and he will share history and anecdotes that only a great storyteller with first-hand knowledge of the area could tell. Engage with your guides\, ask questions\, enjoy the views\, and join a trek that brings history to life.
