He has been a Fisheries Biologist with the Wyoming Game & Fish Department in Cody for the last 18 years. DESCRIPTION:A two-session class to look more closely at lace knitting and a variety of lace stitches. Pattern must be purchased through Ravelry online in order to complete the class. Please sign-up for the class ahead of time. \nDATE/TIME: March 27 & April 3 \, 2025; 1-3pm.\nClass includes: Lace stitches including yarn-overs\, decreases\, and chart-reading.\nSkill level: Intermediate\nMaterials: \nPurchased pattern online (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/my-shetland-home)\nApprox. 900 yards of fingering-weight\, non-superwash wool such as Jamieson’s Spindrift\, Cascade 220 fingering\, or Geilsk Thin Wool. If you wish to use different colors as shown in the pattern\, allow approx. 90 yards for each small section and approx. 180 yards for the middle section.\nStraight or 24″ circular knitting needles size 7 US. DESCRIPTION:BASIC BABYSITTERS TRAINING\nThe primary purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth who want to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Designed for youth ages 11 to 15\, the course helps participants develop leadership skills\, build a babysitting business\, keep themselves and others safe\, and guide children’s behavior. Participants also learn about basic child care and basic first aid.\nWhat You’ll Learn:\nAlthough every situation is unique\, there are some universal skills and techniques that every babysitter should have. Our courses were designed with this principle in mind and can help you deliver the care that families need. Just a few of the things our babysitting classes cover include:\nBasic Care for Infants and Children\nBasic First Aid\nChild Behavior\nAge-Appropriate Activities\nEmergency Protocols\nProfessionalism\nLeadership\nGrowing Your Business\nCost: $60/person\nThis Class is an 8-hour class. SUMMARY:Bear Spray Giveaway and Training
DESCRIPTION:Bear spray giveaways and training events will be taking place throughout northwest Wyoming in March and into April. The events will help raise awareness\, and provide important information about safety while recreating in bear country as spring months approach. Since 2020\, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has partnered with the Safari Club International Foundation\, American Bear Foundation and Shoshone National Forest to distribute bear spray and provide training to members of the public at no cost.\nQuantities are limited to 100 cans of bear spray at each event\, and will be available on a first come\, first serve basis. Participants will also receive training on how to use bear spray with “robo bear\,” a remote-controlled mock charging bear that will simulate a sudden encounter situation. Both Game and Fish and USDA Forest Service biologists will be on site to discuss bear ecology and conservation\, and promote Bear Wise Wyoming guidelines. \n\nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for five weeks of dance lessons with Mark Fisher and Jill Roberts. Cha Cha is a partner dance done to a variety of music that includes Rock\, Country\, Latin\, Pop\, and R&B. Most bands and DJs play songs that are perfect for Cha Cha like the modern Country song “7 Summers’” by Morgan Wallen\, the Latin song “Havana” by Camila Cabello\, and R&B song “My Girl” by The Temptations. These classes are structured as a package that will gradually build skills\, patterns and confidence. It is one of our favorite dances and hopefully it will become your favorite dance too. Aura Sunada Newlin\, Executive Director of Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation\, celebrates their legacy of empathy\, courage\, and cooperation in the newly opened Mineta-Simpson Institute.\nAbout our speaker\nAura Sunada Newlin is a fourth-generation Wyomingite\, fourth-generation Japanese American\, and the Executive Director for the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation (HMWF). Her heritage involves intertwined stories of imprisonment at Heart Mountain; segregated military service; and hardships suffered by railroaders who were fired because of their Japanese ancestry. She was previously a faculty member at both the University of Wyoming and Northwest College.\nBorn and raised in Riverton\, Aura earned a BA in ethnomusicology from the University of Wyoming and an MA in medical anthropology from Case Western Reserve University. Now focusing on the anthropology of law\, she is a PhD candidate at Case Western Reserve University. DESCRIPTION:Chris La Tray is a Métis storyteller\, a descendent of the Pembina Band of the mighty Red River of the North\, and an enrolled member of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians. His third book\, “Becoming Little Shell: A Landless Indian’s Journey Home”\, was published on August 20\, 2024. His first book\, “One-Sentence Journal: Short Poems and Essays from the World at Large”\, won the 2018 Montana Book Award and a 2019 High Plains Book Award. His book of haiku and haibun poetry\, “Descended from a Travel-worn Satchel”\, was published in 2021 by Foothills Publishing.\nChris also writes the weekly newsletter “An Irritable Métis” and lives near Frenchtown\, Montana.
