This special author talk and book signing will take place Monday\, July 6\, in the Coe Auditorium.\nA retired historian and superintendent with the National Park Service\, Hedren spent thirty-seven years working at historic sites across the West\, from Minnesota to Wyoming\, Montana\, Utah\, North Dakota\, and Nebraska. His many books have earned top honors\, including a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America\, a Western Heritage Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum\, and multiple Best Book awards from the Little Big Horn Associates.\nA lifelong student of the Great Sioux War\, Hedren continues to explore the trails\, battlefields\, back corners\, and sacred sites of that dramatic 1870s conflict. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that the speaker for the annual banquet being held on Saturday\, July 11\, 2026\, at 6:00 pm will be Hunter Old Elk.  Hunter Old Elk is the curator at the Plains Indians Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.  Her presentation title is “Beauty and Function: Plains Indian Rifle Cases and Gun Stock War Clubs.”  She will discuss how Indigenous creators adapted rifle cases and gun stock war clubs for personal uses. \nIn addition to Hunter’s presentation\, we will present awards to those who attended the show with educational displays and hold our annual prize raffle.  Tickets are $50.00 each and are available through the WACA Office by calling 406-285-3722 (M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST).  Payment can be made by check or credit card no later than June 29\, 2026.  Only unsold tickets will be available at the Cody Show. \nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible. \n
