SUMMARY:Cody Youth Climbing Camp
DESCRIPTION:Our Cody Youth Climbing Camp is open to youth of all backgrounds in northwest Wyoming who want to explore the amazing rock climbing resources in their backyard. This educational climbing camp focuses on three main learning objectives: safety\, sustainability\, and being supportive partners. Safety is our first priority as participants learn the fundamentals of climbing safety systems and technique they climb outdoors west of Cody. Sustainability is also very important as we place great emphasis on teaching Leave No Trace practices to help participants become more sustainable users of this pristine resource. We also work hard to foster a supportive learning environment for participants to feel included\, valued\, and part of a team that works together. This camp is physically and mentally challenging but highly rewarding as participants learn new skills\, explore a beautiful place\, and have a lot of fun!\nDates:\nSession 1: June 8-10\, 2026\nSession 2: July 13-15\, 2026\nLocations:\nSelect locations in Shoshone Canyon near Cody\, Wyoming\nAges:\n9-16 years old\nRate:\n$275 ($100 deposit at sign up\, remaining balance due two weeks before camp). This includes gratuity for the guides working the camp.\nTransportation and logistics:\nWe do not provide transportation for this camp. We will meet participants in Shoshone Canyon near Cody each day of the camp for drop off and pickup.\nDaily schedule:\nDrop off in the Cody area will be at 8am and pickup will be at 2pm.\nEquipment:\nWe provide all of the following technical climbing equipment at no extra cost:\n– Climbing shoes\n– Harness\n– Helmet\n– Belay device and locking carabiner\nWe do not provide food\, water\, backpacks\, clothing\, or hiking shoes for participants.\nSigning up:\nWe require a $100/participant deposit to reserve your spot in the camp. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that the speaker for the annual banquet being held on Saturday\, July 11\, 2026\, at 6:00 pm will be Hunter Old Elk.  Hunter Old Elk is the curator at the Plains Indians Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.  Her presentation title is “Beauty and Function: Plains Indian Rifle Cases and Gun Stock War Clubs.”  She will discuss how Indigenous creators adapted rifle cases and gun stock war clubs for personal uses. \nIn addition to Hunter’s presentation\, we will present awards to those who attended the show with educational displays and hold our annual prize raffle.  Tickets are $50.00 each and are available through the WACA Office by calling 406-285-3722 (M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST).  Payment can be made by check or credit card no later than June 29\, 2026.  Only unsold tickets will be available at the Cody Show. \nCody Journal advertisers make this calendar possible. \n

SUMMARY:Cody Youth Climbing Camp
DESCRIPTION:Our Cody Youth Climbing Camp is open to youth of all backgrounds in northwest Wyoming who want to explore the amazing rock climbing resources in their backyard. This educational climbing camp focuses on three main learning objectives: safety\, sustainability\, and being supportive partners. Safety is our first priority as participants learn the fundamentals of climbing safety systems and technique they climb outdoors west of Cody. Sustainability is also very important as we place great emphasis on teaching Leave No Trace practices to help participants become more sustainable users of this pristine resource. We also work hard to foster a supportive learning environment for participants to feel included\, valued\, and part of a team that works together. This camp is physically and mentally challenging but highly rewarding as participants learn new skills\, explore a beautiful place\, and have a lot of fun!\nDates:\nSession 1: June 8-10\, 2026\nSession 2: July 13-15\, 2026\nLocations:\nSelect locations in Shoshone Canyon near Cody\, Wyoming\nAges:\n9-16 years old\nRate:\n$275 ($100 deposit at sign up\, remaining balance due two weeks before camp). This includes gratuity for the guides working the camp.\nTransportation and logistics:\nWe do not provide transportation for this camp. We will meet participants in Shoshone Canyon near Cody each day of the camp for drop off and pickup.\nDaily schedule:\nDrop off in the Cody area will be at 8am and pickup will be at 2pm.\nEquipment:\nWe provide all of the following technical climbing equipment at no extra cost:\n– Climbing shoes\n– Harness\n– Helmet\n– Belay device and locking carabiner\nWe do not provide food\, water\, backpacks\, clothing\, or hiking shoes for participants.\nSigning up:\nWe require a $100/participant deposit to reserve your spot in the camp. SUMMARY:Sage Creek Family Country Dance & Dessert Auction
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, March 28th\, a rural family tradition that started in 1924 continues today\, one-hundred and two years later. The Sage Creek Community Clubhouse is located on the Greybull Highway in Park County\, it’s where country family dancing continues. The club is in the process of repairing and painting the 102-year-old building. ‘We’re in fundraising mode”. The building got a new roof a few years ago\, funded with a benefit dance and a grant. “Now we’re moving forward to finish the project.”\nWe have a great band\, Loose Boots and ‘ol Country\, Ron Daniels\nlong-time club member has formed a new band.\nThe public is encouraged to bring baked goods for the auction or come and purchase a baked item.
