Through discussion\, live demonstrations\, and individual instruction\, you’ll learn to move beyond copying photographs to infuse your work with life.\nTopics include design and composition\, reference photo selection\, form and gesture\, color mixing\, and expressive brushwork. You’ll follow the full painting process from accurate drawing and quick underpainting to wet-in-wet techniques including how to handle edges\, light\, and values. Krystii will also share her approach to blending realistic subjects with abstracted backgrounds.\nStudents will receive personalized guidance while developing your own wildlife or horse painting on linen panel. With a mix of flowing trails\, varied terrain\, and a pump track nearby\, the area offers plenty of opportunities for riders to explore and challenge themselves at their own pace while enjoying the wide open landscapes of Wyoming.\nGirls ride alongside our team of Mentors (we mentor\, we don’t coach) and participate in trail rides\, games\, and skill building activities designed to help riders grow their mountain biking skills. This special author talk and book signing will take place Monday\, July 6\, in the Coe Auditorium.\nA retired historian and superintendent with the National Park Service\, Hedren spent thirty-seven years working at historic sites across the West\, from Minnesota to Wyoming\, Montana\, Utah\, North Dakota\, and Nebraska. His many books have earned top honors\, including a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America\, a Western Heritage Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum\, and multiple Best Book awards from the Little Big Horn Associates.\nA lifelong student of the Great Sioux War\, Hedren continues to explore the trails\, battlefields\, back corners\, and sacred sites of that dramatic 1870s conflict.
