The book traces the life of Eastern Shoshone Chief Washakie and explores how his leadership, diplomacy, and vision shaped Wyoming history during a pivotal era of western expansion.\nDuring the presentation, Sam will discuss the research and storytelling behind the book, including insights into the famed Crowheart Butte Battle and the larger historical figures who intersected with Washakie’s story, from Jim Bridger and Brigham Young to Crazy Horse and Abraham Lincoln. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing following the talk.\nAlong with the presentation, visitors are invited to enjoy the opening reception of Wyoming’s History Through Listeners’ Eyes, a photo exhibit showcasing winning entries from Wyoming Public Media’s statewide listener photo contest.
